A Swinging Time

“Hi, my name is Lily. Ol’ Sillyput took me to the playground to play on the swings last weekend, but he just wasn’t getting it. Erm, Sillyput? Higher!”

“Hurrah! That’s better, Da-Da! Wheeeeeeee! Gosh, if you’re going to play on the swings, you have to go as high as you possibly can. Boopy-doop!”

Princess Lilyput’s Halloween Dress

“Hi, my name is Lily. Gosh, people made such a fuss of my dress last weekend, talking about ‘Halloween’ this and ‘dressing-up’ that … Don’t they realise I dress like a princess all of the time?”

“HELP! I’m being stolen away from my castle by an ogre or some kind of giant troll! What the jiggers is up with that, Lovely Mum? HEEEEEELLLLPPPP! Boopy-doop …”

My Fun Day At the Ball-Pool

“Hi, my name is Lily. Please do not adjust your sets – I’m only out of focus because I’m whizzing around the ball-pool so fast. Wheeeeee! Well, it’s that or Lovely Mum has a very shaky hand …”

“You might think a ball-pool is fun, but I’m here to tell you it’s busy work. Okay – deep breath, and under we go …”

“Now up-and-over the ball-pool barrier … Sheesh, Lovely Mum, I thought you said we were coming here to have fun?”

“Wow, am I glad that’s over. Oi, Lovely Mum – if you think this is so much fun, why don’t you come and try it, eh? Boopy-doop.”

The Blue Gate

“Hi, I’m Lily. I love booping around in Granny and Granddad’s garden, because there’s so much to – ooooh, what’s that over there? Is it a blue gate?”

“Wooooh, it is a blue gate. Gosh, is there a secret garden behind there? Am I a little bit scared?”

“Here I go, folks. Wish me luck. Who knows what a princess might find behind a blue gate … Boopy-doop.”

Bad Hair Days

“Hi, my name is Lily. Gosh, some hair days are worse than others. Who’s the worst – is it me, Ol’ Sillyput or Nelson Doggie?”

“Hurrah, Momma’s the worst! See, Momma? That’s what happens when you go off to Nice without taking Lilyput to look after you.”

“If you want a handy tip, Momma, I always find that on a bad hair day, it’s best to wear a pair of underpants on your head. I mean, everyone stares at the underpants, and no one notices your split ends. Boopy-doop!”

Mirror, Mirror …

“Hi, my name is Lily. Do you like my new peach dress ensemble? Mmmmm, peachy …”

“Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who’s the peachiest of them all? Yep, it’s the Princess Lilyput. Boopy-doop!”

My New House

“Hi, I’m Lily. Boo-sucks to the recession – Granny B and Granda P bought me a new house, just so I could get away from the Sillyputs once in a while. Isn’t it lovely? It’d be perfect if I didn’t have those Sillyputs for neighbours …”

“Yes, there’s nothing better than a banquet in your own castle, that’s what I always say. Erm, Sillyput? Can’t a princess afford a blummin’ carpet for her banquet hall?”

“That’s better. Thanks, Da-Da, now I can have all my friends around to visit for a Pink Ladies Party. And thanks, Granny B and Granda P! I LOVE MY NEW HOUSE!!! Boopy-doop.”

They’ll Have Me Up A Chimney Next

“Hi, my name is Lily. Golly-gosh, but the Sillyputs are a tough audience. All I was doing was a little pots-‘n’-pans drumming, and the next thing you know they’re saying, ‘Hey, clean those pans!’ I mean, I’m a princess!”

“Erm, Lovely Mum? Can I go play? No? Well bssssssppppp to you!”

“Gosh, now I have to polish the pots and pans too. They’ll have me singing for my supper next.”

“No, it’s ‘Lily, get the brush and pan and clean up that mess you made.’ Like, where’s the fun in not making a mess?”

“Right, that’s it – I’m on sit-down strike. Or hunker-down strike. Whatever. And if you don’t take me for a walk in the woods, I’ll thwceam and thwceam and … What’s that, Sillyput? A walk in the woods, you say? Lovely.”

“Hurray for walks in the woods! Hurray for no pots and pans or sweeping brushes! Hurray for my lovely poncho! Hurray, hurray, hurray!!! Boopy-doop.”

Playtime for Lily

“Hi, my name is Lily. Golly-gosh, but I do love a good playtime. Here I am playing with my cousins Éba and Ana – I’m playing sandpit, they’re playing aeroplanes. Oh well, so long as we’re all having fun, I suppose.”

“And here I am playing bubbles with their lovely Mum, Auntie Oonagh. Bubbles are nice! Poor Auntie Oonagh – she isn’t surprised or amazed in this picture, she always looks like that. We’re hoping the wind will change some day.”

“Anyway, my favourite playtime is on the swings. Push, Sillyput, push! Wheeeeeee! Boopy-doop.”

Lilyput’s Playpen

“Hi, my name is Lily. I’ve been telling you all along how much of a Sillyput Ol’ Sillyput is, but I bet you didn’t believe me. Well, here he is in my playpen. I mean, hello?”

“I wouldn’t mind so much, but he always calls it ‘the pigpen’. Erm, Sillyput? There’s only one oinker in this pen right now, and it’s wearing a blue sweater. Zing!”

“Oh God bless us all, now he wants to play fingerpuppen. Lovely Mum? Put down that camera and COME SAVE ME NOW! Boopy-doop.”

My Latest Holidays

“Hi, my name is Lily. Gosh, it’s nice to be on holidays – and I’m always on my holidays! Here I am at the beach in Donegal …”

“… and here I am at Avondale, with my Lovely Cousins Lara, Katie, Éba and Ana. Swing!”

“And here’s my lovely Auntie Oonagh giving me a cuddle. Gosh, I like cuddles. All together now: ‘I’m forever blowing bubbles …’ Boopy-doop!”

Dressing Up Games

“Hi, my name is Lily. Last weekend I went to Sligo and played dress-up with Auntie Finn. Ol’ Sillyput says I look like Agatha Christie. Really? I didn’t know Agatha Christie wore ‘Baby Diva’ bibs. Boopy-doop!”

My Trip to the Zoo

“Hi, my name is Lily. Last weekend I took the Sillyputs and my Granddads and Grannies to the zoo. Hi, Grannies and Granddads!”

“What’s that over there, Sillyput?”

“Oooh, what’s that over there, Granda P?”

“Oh, it’s just the Sillyputs arguing about who’s the biggest Sillyput. Except they both are! Boom-boom!”

“Anyway, we all got home and I went for an upside-down play on my lovely new rug, which my Auntie Finn made. Gosh, it really is a lovely rug. Auntie Finn? I’d love a hug to go with my rug. Boopy-doop!”

Corn on the Cob

“Hi, my name is Lily. Golly-gosh, but I do love corn on the cob. Yummy-yummy-yummy, I got corn in my tummy …”

“I mean, I LOVE CORN ON THE COB!!! More, please, Lovely Mum! Boopy-doop.”

Fun and Games

“Hi, my name is Lily. Some days it’s nice to go to the playground and have a good old boop. Here’s me and Ol’ Sillyput on the slide. Erm, Sillyput? It’s called a, y’know, slide. As in, slide. Are you stuck?”

“Sheesh, let’s try the swings instead. Hello? Anyone? Any chance of a push?”

“Hurrah, that’s better! There’s nothing like a good swing. Thanks, Lovely Mum and Auntie Fi. Altogether now – wheeeeeeeeeee! Boopy-doop.”

Did I Mention I Went To Italy On My Holidays?

“Hi, my name is Lily. Golly-gosh, a princess is always supposed to hide her identity when she goes on holiday, in case the blummin’ paparazzi find her. Oh look, is that a cameraman in the bushes over there?”

“Geez, just when I’m out for a nice day being pushed around in my Princess Stroller, the blummin’ press turn up again. Like, can’t a girl get some peace around here?”

“Ah, that’s better. A nice, quiet courtyard, a lovely frock, and the tail feather of an albino peacock – what more could a princess want? Yes, I know, there doesn’t seem to be much point in being an albino peacock, but that’s what they are. I don’t know, maybe they got fed up with the paparazzi photographing them all the time, so they just turned themselves white? Boopy-doop!”

More Pics from My Holiday in Italy

“Hi, my name is Lily. Golly-gosh, my holiday in Italy would have been an awful lot more fun if Ol’ Sillyput hadn’t come along. He never left me alone! Here we are on the plane on the way to Italy …”

“ … and here we are at the restaurant. Golly-gosh, Daddy – can’t a girl even eat her sketti in peace?”

“Help! Someone help me escape from Ol’ Sillyput!! Anyone at all!!!”

“Hurrah, I’m off and gone! No one can stop me now … The world and all its mischief will be mine!!! Boopy-doop.”

My Holiday in Italy

“Hi, my name is Lily. As some of you know, I went to Italy last week. It wasn’t much of a holiday, though. I mean, golly-gosh, you have to entertain the Sillyputs all the blummin’ time. Here’s me taking Lovely Mum for a walk in Bergamo’s Old Town.”

“And here’s me showing Auntie Fi how to feed the ducks at Siriminone on Lake Garda. Altogether now, quack-quack!”

“And here’s me taking Lovely Mum for a walk at Lake Garda. Hmmm, I think I’ll throw the world a kiss. Some days the world just deserves a kiss from its princess.”

“And here’s me taking Ol’ Sillyput for a walk in … Woah! This is me and Ol’ Sillyput having a snooze. Maybe that’s because all Ol’ Sillyput did for the holiday was snooze. He calls it a ‘siesta’, and says 60 million Mexicans can’t all be wrong. Erm, Sillyput? We were in Italy, not Mexico. Boopy-doop!”

My Busy Weekend In Sligo

“Hi, my name is Lily. Gosh, it’s lovely to go to Sligo for the weekend, but I wish we could be quicker getting there. Mush, donkey, mush!”

“Ha! I’m only booping. The donkey and cart is in Sligo! That’s my Uncle Kieran, by the way. He says I’m ‘Ben Her’. That sounds like a Sillyput joke to me, to be honest.”

“Anyhoos, it was another busy-busy weekend in Sligo. I had to have my usual chat with Granny, which usually goes, ‘No, you look more like Jackie O. No, you.’ And on it goes …”

“Then it was off to my cousins’ house to bounce on their new trampoline. Golly-gosh, that trampoline is great fun. That’s my Auntie Kathy and my Cousin Aodhan. He’s great fun. Wheeeee!!!”

“And I had to have my usual chat with my Grandad. It generally goes, ‘Hi, Granda Harry, how are you today?’ ‘Grrrrrrrrr, I’m going to eat Lily.’ Golly-gosh, I hope he never does – it’d be very dark in Granda’s tummy. And there’d be no room for my donkey and cart. Boopy-doop!

I Can Even Feed Myself Now

“Hi, my name is Lily. Golly-gosh, but I’m getting to be a big girl now – I can even feed myself! Hurrah for feeding myself! Soon I’m hoping I’ll be able to cook for myself, because that rubbish Ol’ Sillyput cooks is horrible. Not like Lovely Mum’s taste sensations. Mmmmmm, yoghurt … nice. Boopy-doop!”

Rock ‘n’ Roll Lily

“Hi, I’m Lily. Well it’s one for the money / Two for the show / Three to get ready …”

“ ... Now go-cat-go! / And don’t you / Step on my blue suede booties …”

“Erm, Sillyput? Lovely Mum and me have been chatting, and I can’t really be Rock ‘n’ Roll Lily without a pair of blue suede booties. And as long as we’re going shopping anyway, Lovely Mum wouldn’t mind a new pair of shoes. Make it so, Sillyput. Boopy-doop!”

My Lovely Lazy Weekend At Auntie Fi’s

“Hi, my name is Lily. Ol’ Sillyput went away to Bristol last weekend – hurrah! – so Lovely Mum and me spent a nice, lazy Saturday at Auntie Fi’s. Y’know, just hanging out, exploring, trying on new hair-bands, doing a bit of reading …”

“ … just a day of generalised booping around, checking out beaded purse-handbags, that kind of thing – Whoa! Who’s that over there?”

“Golly-gosh, it’s my new cousin Hugh, who lives in Bristol! He’s lovely. Hi, Hugh. I’ll be coming over to see you soon …”

“Anyhoos, that was my lazy Saturday. The best thing about it was Auntie Fi’s beanbag. Gosh, every princess should have a beanbag, and a couple of books to hand … Sillyput? It’s probably my birthday next week again. I’d like a beanbag, please. Oh, and would you mind going away to Bristol again so I can boop around with Lovely Mum and Auntie Fi? Thanks. Boopy-doop!”

My Reading Life

“Hi, my name is Lily. Golly-gosh, but I do love a good book. This one is called ‘That’s Not My Penguin!’ It’s about a penguin that isn’t mine, apparently …”

“Wow! Stop the lights! Here on the last page it says the penguin is mine. Golly-gosh, I never saw that twist coming … Erm, Sillyput? I’m trying to read here. Can you put away that magic picture-box, please?”

“Let me see, maybe if I disguise myself by changing my dress he’ll leave me alone … What’s that, Sillyput? You want to play hidey-peep? Gosh ... Okay, Hidey …”

“ … Peep!”

“Now, can I please have some peace and quiet to enjoy my book? It’s all about Noddy and Big Ears and PC Plod … I think PC Plod is investigating a crime where a little girl’s reading time gets stolen by a big Sillyput. Sound familiar? Boopy-doop!”

My Busy Day

“Hi, my name is Lily. Golly-gosh, but it’s a busy life being a little girl. Here’s a video of all the stuff I have to do … push my push-along around the house, stand up on my own, give hugs to my Pinky Dolly that Granny Kay gave me, give hugs to Lovely Mum, pick my nose … Gosh, when’s a princess supposed to get any time to play, eh? Boopy-doop!”

My Weekend in Sligo

“Hi, my name is Lily. Golly-gosh, it’s always such a busy time when I go to Sligo for a weekend. First I have to have my usual chat with Granda Harry … I say things like, ‘Hello, Granda Harry. How are you? You’re looking very well. Did you get your hair cut recently?’ And he says, ‘Grrrrrrrrr, I’m going to get Lily!’ Gosh, granddads are silly, sometimes.”

“Anyhoos, then I had to take a walk around the west wing’s grounds with Lovely Mum. Which is always nice, except mum’s posture is very bad. Watch me, Lovely Mum – keep your back straight, tummy out, and your hands high in the air. Wheeeee! It’s easy when you know how.”

“After a while I took a stroll over to the east wing with my push-along, to see my lovely cousins, Anna Banana and Katie. Gosh, they have lovely clothes and headbands. Oi, Lovely Mum? The girls are telling me I’m going have to do something with my fringe soon. Can I have a fringe like Anna Banana? Boopy-doop!”
